Multi-tasking

Try to combine some activities such as: 1) exercise and watching television, 2) scanning magazines or catalogs while talking on the phone, 3) filing your nails while waiting for an appointment, 4) watering plants while clothes are drying.

Getting kids organized

Set up your kid’s room so that they can manage it. Teach your kids to maintain their room and reward with praise on their achievement in doing so. Give them household responsibilities and chores they can do realistically.

Organizing clothes

Hang clothes by type, arranging similar items together, and by use. Grouping them by color within the category makes it easier to mix and match garments. Store out-of-season clothes in old suitcases or trunks. Keep only current season’s coats and jackets in the coat closet. Use closet organizers to create more space in your closet.

Make space in kitchen

Here’s some tips to add space to your kitchen: 1) Install wall shelves to hold canisters and small appliances, giving you more counter space. 2) Store away (or give away) appliances or kitchenware that is not used often. 3) Put shelf organizers inside cabinets with high shelf space, doubling up on the space. 4) Put a pegboard on walls to hang light or small items. 5) Use plastic drawer organizers under kitchen sink to utilize wasted space there.

Bedroom comfort

Make a convenient bedside area by keeping those things you need close at hand in either a night-table or caddy. This can hold items like note paper, pens, reading glasses, whatever crafts items you like to do in the bedroom Consider wall shelves on any useable wall space to create more storage space for things that decorate the room, or that serve a function. This can free up cluttered dresser tops or night-tables.
